Example 5E lesson plan
The difference between a STEM lesson plan vs. a science/technology/engineering/ or math lesson plan is that a true STEM lesson plan will integrate at least two or more of the core disciplines. The lesson plan should draw on the knowledge of the content areas, curriculum, cross disciplinary skills and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of learners and a real world context. It should include continuous assessment throughout to ensure that students are understanding the objectives, rather than just at the end in solely a summative context. The lesson should encourage a deep understanding of the content areas and their connections, and should task the students with applying their skills and knowledge in a meaningful way.
Here is an example of a lesson plan I designed that incorporates these ideas.
